The Tobacco Action Coalition is an initiative for those who have been impacted by tobacco use, including individuals, families, and community members to meet monthly to discuss the impact of nicotine addiction, tobacco-related diseases, and disparities related to tobacco product use. A strategic plan will be implemented to cover the following project areas: Youth, Policy, Cessation, and Equity.

VISION

To have a community free of nicotine addiction and the harmful associated effects.

MISSION

To increase access to cessation resources for those who are ready to quit tobacco, decrease secondhand smoke exposure, and reduce tobacco initiation within Erie County.

PROJECT AREAS

The Tobacco Action Coalition has four identified project areas that are further outlined in the strategic action plan:

Youth:

  • Decrease accessibility and availability of tobacco products to youth within Erie County.

Policy:

  • Project Lead: TBD

  • Decrease the number of people exposed to secondhand smoke in public spaces or multi-unit housing.

Cessation:

  • Project Lead: TBD

  • Increase accessibility and utilization of cessation services for both adults and youth.

Equity:

  • Project Lead: TBD

  • Reduce disparities relating to tobacco use within Erie County for individuals with low socioeconomic status.
